Jean Rigden is vice chair of Elmbridge Mencap. She joined me on Radio Woking Breakfast to tell us about the work they do in the community and the services they offer to those who have a learning disability and their familys/carers.
Jean talks about how she became involved in the organisation, and how after almost 30 years she has no plans to retire just yet!
One of the events coming up is the popular cinema screening. There is a showing of The Adventures of Tin Tin on Saturday 9th June at Burview Hall in Walton on Thames. This is open to anybody with a learning disability. £3 on the door carers are free. No need to book.

I was joined this morning by Susie Maguire from Chertsey. Susie is otherwise known localy as the Storyteller Lady. She runs sessions at Chertsey library every Friday at 3.45pm telling stories, and inpiring creativity in the children who attend. She is also planning a book which will feature the new mayor of Runnymead.

We all expereince inapprpriate behaivior from others on public transport. I was reading about one man who was cutting his toe nails on the train! Yuk!
This made me wonder what other unsavory things happen on the daily cummute to work?
Lara joined me as she was rushing to get her train to London. She told me about her expereinces of how others behave on the train.

The Beautiful South enjoyed a 19 year run in the charts until their split in 2006. At that point some of the group felt it wasnt time to hang up the microphone just yet. They carried on as The South, touring and playing the songs of the Beautiful South.

23 year old Kitty Pandya from Weybridge came onto my breakfast show today to talk about her Big Busk.
Kitty spent a weekend busking with her guitar across the UK raising money for the Alzheimers Society, relying on the goodwill of others to get from city to city.
This is a cause close to Kitty's heart as her own Nanna has been diagnosed with Dementia.
