BRUNCH TIME BREAKFAST MONDAY 1ST JUNE 2015Across the UK millions of people are giving their time from no financial payment. The benefits of volunteering are well documented. Maybe its giving a retired person something to fill their time in those post work years, or adding skills to the CV of a teenager looking to get on the career ladder. Then we have the people and organisations who benefit from volunteers. From the friendly smile welcoming a patient as they enter a hospital to the companionship and support for an vulnerable person who might feel isolated from their community. The army of volunteers working in the UK really brings out the best in human nature. People helping people.Volunteering matters is the UK's largest charity for volunteers and you can look at their website to find out more about volunteering and opportunities within your local area. www.volunteeringmatters.org.ukI spoke to Alan Marchbank who works on the charity's RSVP project based in Brighton.

Radio Wey Sunday 18th MayI was browsing through Facebook on a lazy Sunday morning when I noticed one of my friends had shared a page called "For Sam". I was interested by this so had a look. The page was set up by Nicky Smeadly for her Nephew Sam Amess. Sam who is 12 years of age has recently been told he has a tumor on his liver. Described as a "Brave Warrior" by his Auntie, Sam spoke to me about himself and his family and how he is coping with a grueling course of chemotherapy. I then spoke to Nicky who explained the Facebook page has gone viral in just one week over 6 thousand likes and comments from across the world. People who don't event know Sam wishing him well. This was the first ever radio interview that Sam has done, and he was a brilliant guest. Such an inspiration! Sam enjoyed a whole hour of his favorite songs played for him on Radio Wey, and I got to say Sam has a brilliant taste in music! Stay positive Sam we all wish you the best! ;-)

RADIO WEY ROADSHOW LIVE IN WOKING!On Friday 15th March myself and the team from Radio Wey spent the day in Woking town centre promoting what we do and broadcasting live over lunchtime. A great chance for me to develop my on the street reporting skills as I spoke to Gayle Hudson (Mrs H) about her 6ft giant microphone which she used to collect donations. Very quirky but I would expect nothing less from her!I also chatted during the live broadcast to a chap called Kevin who arrived at the Radio wey stand with his two greyhounds. Kevin told me all about the Celia Cross Rescue Centre at Newlands Corner, near Guildford.
